After having a tussle with one Indian legend, Virat Kohli, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) seamer Naveen-ul-Haq has now attacked another Indian batting legend, the Mumbai Indians and India captain, Rohit Sharma.
Sharma’s numbers in the IPL playoffs continued to get grim as he was dismissed for only 11 runs off 10 balls in the Eliminator in Chennai. Naveen dismissed Sharma in his first over, the 4th over of MI’s innings.
Rohit Sharma had hit a four and a six to Krunal Pandya, the LSG captain, in the previous over. So, this wicket felt big for LSG. The MI opener came down the track to Naveen-ul-Haq and looked to chip his full ball over cover. However, Rohit didn’t time his shot well and gave a simple catch to Ayush Badoni who moved to his left to take an easy catch.
Naveen was pumped with this big wicket of the MI opener and captain.
After taking the wicket, Naveen celebrated with a gesture of fingers in the ears. This gesture is to indicate that he’s blocking the outside noise away from himself.
Here is Naveen-ul-Haq’s celebration after dismissing Rohit Sharma:
Naveen has been trending in the IPL in the past few weeks courtest of, first, his on-field tussle with Kohli, and then some social media drama.
In his last few games, whenever Naveen-ul-Haq has come to bowl for LSG, the fans – whether in Hyderabad, or in Lucknow – have chanted “Kohli Kohli” to taunt and tease Naveen. Let’s see where this rivalry goes further.
Meanwhile, Rohit won the toss and elected to bat first in the Eliminator in Chennai.
