Mumbai Indians’ star batter Suryakumar Yadav was awarded Player of the Match in the 54th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Tuesday, May 9.
MI won the toss and opted to bowl first in the game. The decision turned out to be in the favor of Rohit Sharma’s side as the left-arm pacer Jason Behrendorff dismissed Virat Kohli and Anuj Rawat to reduce the side to 16/2.
After losing 2 early wickets, the dependable duo of Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell brought the momentum back to their innings. The duo added 120 runs in 62 balls before Behrendorff cleaned up Maxwell in the 13th over for 68. After a short cameo of Dinesh Karthik, Kedar, and Wanindu, RCB posted a target of 200 runs for MI.
Later on, chasing the target, Mumbai Indians kicked off on a disappointing note with skipper Rohit Sharma failing miserably with the bat, however, the other opener, Ishan Kishan played a fiery knock and helped MI get to a powerful start. He played a quick-fire knock of 42 runs off 21 balls, smashing 4 fours and 4 sixes.
Suryakumar Yadav’s masterclass and Nehal Wadhera’s fabulous half-century powered Mumbai Indians to a stunning win over Royal Challengers Bangalore. Yadav played a fabulous 83-run knock off just 35 balls, smashing 7 fours and 6 sixes.
