West Indies’ star player Nicholas Pooran smashed the joint second-fastest fifty in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the fastest fifty of the ongoing 2023 edition of the IPL. Pooran’s stunning knock led his side Lucknow Super Giants to a thrilling win against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday.

Though, LSG started the game on the worst possible note losing 3 wickets in the power-play overs & scoring just 37 runs, however, Marcus Stoinis’ turned the tables for his side with his knock of 65 runs in 30 balls.
Pooran also played a powerful knock of 62 runs in 19 balls as he scored 4 fours & 7 sixes and stole the win for his side. His knock of 62 runs was laced with 7 sixes and 4 fours.

Meanwhile, later after the match, Pooran talked about his performance and dedicated the same to his wife and newborn. He said:
“I want to dedicate this performance to my wife and new born. We knew that the game was on, Stoinis and KL had a wonderful partnership. Stoinis kept us in the game and I knew this was a nice wicket. We could chase even over 50 in the last four, it was about cashing in. The second ball I came in and smashed a six. It isn’t about getting a look in, if it is in my slot then I will smash it for six.”
Pooran, who wasn’t able to live upto the expectations of the fans in the previous season, hopes that the ongoing season turns out good for him. He said:
“Over the past couple of years, I’ve put a lot of pressure on myself to finish games. Today also I wanted to finish the game, but got out in the end. I hope this is the season for me, in a good space and state of mind. Just want to enjoy my cricket, play with a smile and entertain, and win games for my team.”
