Young Nitish Reddy displayed great determination during his crucial innings of 64 runs off 37 balls, helping Sunrisers Hyderabad reach a competitive total of 182/9 against Punjab Kings in their IPL 2024 match on Tuesday.

PBKS won the toss and chose to field, sending SRH in to bat first. Arshdeep Singh quickly dismissed two SRH batsmen, putting them in a tough spot. This brought 20-year-old all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy to the crease at No.4.

By the tenth over, SRH was struggling at 64-4. Reddy tried to stabilize the innings but found it difficult to score runs. However, in the 11th over bowled by Harpreet Brar, he managed to hit a four and a six, breaking free.

In the next over, Rabada started bowling, giving away just one run off the first two balls to Reddy. Reddy faced the fifth ball and Rabada tried a bouncer. Reddy positioned himself well, connecting with the ball and sending it over long-leg for his second six of the innings.

However the pitch is playing, to hook Kagiso Rabada for six for a 20-year-old in what is his first proper IPL season is quite something from Nitish Reddy. No wonder those who’ve seen a lot of him have talked him up so much #IPL2024 #PBKSvSRH

Reddy continued to impress, hitting three more sixes and reaching his first-ever IPL fifty off just 32 balls. His innings came to an end in the 17th over, scoring 64 runs off 37 balls. Nonetheless, his contribution laid the foundation for SRH to achieve a respectable total.

Abhishek’s six showcased Reddy’s talent, which has been praised by his fellow state-mate and Indian player, Hanuma Vihari.

In the end, Sunrisers Hyderabad reached a total of 182-9 from their allotted 20 overs.
