Preity Zinta Slams The IPL Governing Committee After KXIP’s First Match: Riding on the powerful performance of Marcus Stoinis, Delhi Capitals emerged victorious in their first IPL match against Kings XI Punjab on Sunday. The second match between KXIP vs DC turned out to be an absolute cracking beginning to the season.
However, a glaring call by umpire Nitin Menon stirred a controversy. It was in the second last over of KXIP’s innings, when the umpire falsely called a short run, which ultimately cost KL Rahul’s side the match.
The bizarre incident from the umpire received a lot of criticism as the replays showed Jordan’s bat had crossed the line. Well, that one run surely made a difference in the end as the match ended up in a tie. Many took to social media to point it out.
Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, who is also the co-owner of Kings XI Punjab, took to her social media and expressed her disappointment towards the decision. In her tweet, she called out to BCCI asking the board to implement new rules in the game. She wrote:
“I travelled enthusiastically during a pandemic, did 6 days of Quarantine & 5covid tests with a smile but that one Short Run hit me hard. What’s the point of technology if it cannot be used? It’s time @BCCI introduces new rules. This cannot happen every year,”

Preity Zinta was reacting on Virender Sehwag’s tweet, where he took a dig at the umpire. In his tweet, Virender Sehwag wrote that the umpire should have been given the Man of the Match award. He wrote:
“I don’t agree with the man of the match choice . The umpire who gave this short run should have been man of the match. Short Run nahin tha. And that was the difference,”

In another tweet, Zinta wrote how she has always believed in the spirit of the game but it is also important to ask for policy changes that can improve the game. She wrote:
“I’ve always believed in being graceful in a win or loss & in the spirit of the game but it’s also important to ask for policy changes that improve the game in the future for everyone. The past has happened and it’s imp to move on. So Looking ahead & being positive as always”
