Prithvi Shaw Trolled Yashasvi Jaiswal After His Performance In Ranji Trophy Semi-Final: With a massive second innings lead of 346 runs by stumps on Day 3 against Uttar Pradesh in the semi-final in Bangalore, Mumbai have one foot in the final of the 2022 Ranji Trophy.
Mumbai, the most successful team in Ranji Trophy history, had started the game well, scoring 393 in their first innings and then bowled out UP for 180, taking a first-innings lead of 213 upon which the top three of Prithivi Shaw, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Armaan Jaffer have further piled on.
On Day 3, the talking point was the lopsided opening stand between captain Prithvi Shaw and left-hander Yashasvi Jaiswal. The pair stitched up 66 runs for the opening stand in 20.3 overs – but that 64 runs came off Shaw’s bat while Yashasvi Jaiswal contributed for zero runs in this partnership has got the netizens buzzing.
Interestingly, Shaw had got out for a duck in the first innings while Jaiswal struck a century.
Jaiswal didn’t score a single run in 66-run stand with Shaw
Shaw, the young Mumbai captain who had clattered 72 runs off 80 balls in the quarter-final versus Uttarakhand, set the tone for Mumbai’s early attack again as he reeled off 64 runs off 71 balls, his innings laced with 12 well-timed boundaries before Saurabh Kumar dismissed him.
It is a striking fact that Jaiswal, who was in superb touch during the IPL 2022 for the Rajasthan Royals, didn’t score a single run in the 66-run opening stand with the Delhi Capitals opener and enjoyed the Shaw carnage from the other end while dotting up his deliveries while extras contributed for two runs in their stand.
The southpaw finally scored his first run on the 54th delivery he faced; amusingly his Mumbai teammates applauded him for getting off the mark and Jaiswal even raised his bat!
Prithvi Shaw then took to his Instagram story to share a hilarious meme involving two Avengers movie characters and tagged his opening partner in it.
Here’s the funny meme that Shaw uploaded:
Fans on Twitter also expressed awe at this unusual partnership and even recalled a similar instance involving former India batters Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid.
Here are some of the Twitter reactions to this weird Shaw-Jaiswal stand:

Yashasvi Jaiswal has now faced 50 balls, without opening his account. And the Mumbai dressing room applauds his effort, asking him to keep applying himself at the crease. Shaw is unperturbed at the other end #MUMvUP #RanjiTrophy @sportstarweb
