Fans Troll Rahul Dravid For His Statement Of “Backing” KL Rahul: It is rare that Indian fans troll and go after Rahul Dravid. However, his time as head coach hasn’t been the rosiest, especially in terms of team selection.
Following India’s 6-wicket win over Australia in Delhi, Dravid got questioned and trolled by fans on Sunday for his statement on KL Rahul, wherein the head coach said that the team management will continue to back the out-of-form opener.
Dravid listed out KL Rahul’s past achievements – his centuries in England and South Africa in 2021 – when being queried about his current lack of form and scores.
KL Rahul has had a terrible series so far, managing scores of 20, 17 and 1 in this series. The opener has now gone 10 Test innings without going past the score of 25.

Since the start of 2022, KL Rahul averages only 15 in 11 Test innings

Speaking from the Arun Jaitley Stadium after India took a 2-0 series and retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Rahul Dravid said of KL Rahul: “I think he needs to trust his processes. This is just a phase, he has been one of our most successful overseas openers. He’s got hundreds in South Africa and England, we’ll continue to back him.
Dravid is optimistic that KL Rahul will come out of this rut.
“I believe he has the quality and class to come out of this. It is great working with this unit, managing formats is the most difficult part. But there’s not a lot of technical coaching, just simple conversations and challenging them, and giving them a pat on the back when they do well,” he said.
This statement from Dravid – of giving more backing to KL Rahul – infuriated the Indian fans.
Here are some reactions of the fans:

It happens only in INDIA and its bad for KL. He is a decent batter but he needs break frm Intl cricket. Should play some domestic matches. A County season will help him as well.

KL Rahul retains his place in the Test squad, but is not the vice-captain anymore
Hours after the Delhi Test concluded, the BCCI announced the squad for the next two Tests against Australia. While there was no change of any players, KL Rahul was sacked as the vice-captain but retained in the squad.
His sacking from the vice-captaincy position is a big hint from the selectors that Rahul’s place is not certain anymore and the opener can be dropped from the third Test for the in-form Shubman Gill.
India’s Test squad for third and fourth Test against Australia: Rohit Sharma (Captain), K L Rahul, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, KS Bharat (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat.
