On Wednesday, September 20, the ICC finally released the official World Cup 2023 anthem just two weeks away from the start of the tournament.
The song starred one of India’s biggest Bollywood stars, Ranveer Singh. The song also included Yuzvendra Chahal’s wife, Dhanashree Verma, who has become quite a social media sensation in the past year. The World Cup anthem, titled DIL JASHN BOLE, also included a few famous social media and YouTube artists and influencers of India such as the Flying Beast and BeYouNick.
The World Cup 2023 official anthem was sung by famous singers Pritam, Nakash Aziz, Sreerama Chandra, Amit Mishra, Jonita Gandhi, AKASA, and Charan. The music was composed by Pritam while the lyrics were written by Shloke Lal and Saaveri Verma. The rap was written and performed by Charan.
The presence of Ranveer Singh brought the energy and excitement among the fans, while fans also talked about Dhanashree being in this video while Chahal not being selected in India’s provisional World Cup squad.
Fans also noticed one funny thing in this video is that Ranveer Singh paid a “tribute” to Yuzvendra Chahal by doing his iconic laying-on-the-floor celebration while Dhanashree danced behind him.
Should India pick Yuzvendra Chahal? Harbhajan Singh answers
With India fretting over Axar Patel’s injury, Harbhajan Singh, the former India off-spinner and 2011 World Cup winner, opined that India should rope in the services of Yuzvendra Chahal in the World Cup squad, instead of picking an off-spinner between Ashwin and Sundar. Both the off-spinners have been added to the squad to face Australia and one of them could come in the WC squad as well.
“I would like to bring Yuzvendra Chahal instead of any other player. He is a proven player and a match winner. He was the one who missed in the tournament,” Harbhajan Singh said. “After proving so much, he should have been there in the team.”
He added: “Because we have picked two left-arm spinners and they both won’t play the same game together. And it may be so that when the opposition is packed with left-handers, Jadeja may not bowl his overs as you would want someone who can take the ball away from the left-hander. I think if you have to play three spinners you should have a left-arm spinner, a legspinner and an offspinner.”
