After one month of amazing Test cricket, it’s finally time for the much-awaited 3-match white-ball series between India and Australia. The Rohit Sharma-led side put up a stellar show throughout the series and defeated the visitors in the series by 2-1. Now the Indian side would be hoping for the same result in the ODIs as well.
The 3-match ODI series between India and Australia will kickstart on 17th March. The first game will be played in Mumbai, while the second and third match is slated to take place in Visakhapatnam and Chennai on the 19th and 22nd of March respectively.
Rohit Sharma Will Miss The 1st ODI Match

The series will serve as an ideal preparation for both sides considering the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023, which is scheduled to take place later this year.
Meanwhile, the Indian captain Rohit Sharma will be unavailable for the first ODI match against Australia. While announcing the squad for the ODI series, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also announced that the opening batter will join the team in the 2nd match.
Although, the BCCI mentioned that Rohit will be unavailable because of family reasons, but there were many speculations about the same. Rohit’s fans were left disappointed as they wanted to see the Indian captain play in front of his home crowd in Mumbai.
Well, the reason behind Rohit’s absence from the 1st ODI match against Australia has finally been revealed. The Indian captain will be attending his brother-in-law’s wedding and the date of the same is clashing with that of the opening ODI match against Australia. Therefore he requested BCCI for a leave.

In his absence, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya will lead the team in the first ODI match.
Rohit’s absence will be a blessing in disguise for the young Indian opener Ishan Kishan, who didn’t get many opportunities despite scoring a double century in the ODI match against Bangladesh.
