Ahead of the 3rd Test match between India and England, spinner Rehan Ahmed faced a visa issue similar to his teammate Shoaib Bashir. Returning from a break in Abu Dhabi, Rehan was held up at Rajkot Airport for two hours due to having a single-entry visa, preventing him from entering India for the second time within 30 days.

However, a temporary solution was found when authorities granted Rehan a two-day emergency visa, allowing him to continue with the team. The England Cricket Board (ECB) is hopeful that the issue will be fully resolved within the next 24 hours.
Earlier, Shoaib Bashir experienced visa delays due to his Pakistani heritage, leaving him stranded in Abu Dhabi and missing the first Test. However, he made his debut in the second Test in Vishakhapatnam, where he impressed with six wickets.
Talking about his professional front, Rehan, the 19-year-old wrist-spinner, has had a mixed series, taking eight wickets but at a higher average and economy rate. His standout performance came in the second Test, where he took six wickets.
In the series opener, England secured a memorable win, thanks to Ollie Pope’s impressive knock of 196. However, India bounced back in the second Test, winning by 106 runs, led by Jasprit Bumrah’s stellar bowling.
As the series progresses, both teams will aim to gain the upper hand. With visa issues resolved, England will rely on their spinners to challenge India on home soil in the upcoming matches.
The immigration officers at Rajkot have saved England and ECB the blushes. Rehan Ahmed enters India again on a “temporary” visa, something given in the rarest of rare cases. Had the Indian officers followed the laws to the T, then Rehan would’ve had to return to England.
