The ongoing spat between Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli has taken all the focus away from the game and put dressing room gossips and stories in the limelight. Both, Kumble and Kohli, are very intelligent cricketers and they are respected by one and all in the dressing room. But, because of some indifferences they have now launched an all-out war in which Kohli and other Indian cricketers, reportedly, don’t want him to continue as head coach.
Reportedly, Kohli, along with many other Indian cricketers, complained to BCCI that Kumble stays very firm on his opinion and doesn’t allow other players to express themselves freely. This is a very big charge because man management is one of the most important part of coaching.
Recently, reports in the DNA have emerged that Anil Kumble has been leaking one-on-one talks between players with some of the members of the media, passing confidential information to a select group of people about Virat Kohli & Co.
“We’ve been told that there is a WhatsApp group created by Kumble of his few trusted media friends and few confidential talks between him and senior players were leaked through that”, DNA reported.
Now, this is a very big charge and something that can put Kumble in trouble. A coach is always supposed to have a healthy one to one relation with all his players and if Kumble has leaked WhatsApp conversations with Indian cricketers, it will only make Kohli’s case stronger.
One of the most respected players in the country, Kumble is known for his honestly, discipline and hard work. This allegation, if proven true, will hamper his reputation and put him in bad light.
BCCI have already started the process to look for a new coach. If reports are to be believed, Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid, two of Kumble’s former teammates, are front-runners for the role.
