Millions of hearts were broken in the final over of the IPL 2023 match between the Gujarat Titans and the Kolkata Knight Riders, when Rinku Singh hit five sixes to lead his team to an incredible triumph.

In the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) stole a century from GT by scoring 29 runs in the final over. (IPL). Venkatesh Iyer had KKR moving in the chase, but GT’s stand-in captain Rashid Khan swung the momentum back, and KKR lost four wickets for only two runs. Despite the difficulties at first, Rinku never lost faith in his ability to succeed.
Rinku hit a six and a four off Josh Little to help his team stay in the game when they needed 43 runs in the final two overs. Even so, scoring 29 runs in the last over was no easy feat, but Rinku was up to the challenge.
Getting Rinku Singh on strike for the final five balls, Umesh Yadav hit arguably the most crucial single in recent IPL history. Yash Dayal tried everything—three full tosses, a short ball, and a slower bowl from the back of his hand—but nothing worked except for Rinku. Rinku hit five consecutive sixes in as many balls, catapulting him to immediate fame.
Owners Jay Mehta and Juhi Chawla of KKR and CEO Venky Mysore were shocked by what they observed. Nitish Rana, the team’s captain, sprinted out onto the pitch first. Chawla, overcome with emotion, removed her sunglasses to wipe away tears before hugging Mysore and her husband, Jay Mehta. When Rinku struck the first of his five sixes, the pundits had to eat their words, having predicted that the chase wouldn’t be successful.
In their previous match, Royal Challengers Bangalore lost to Kolkata Knight Riders by 81 runs. The Bangalore team’s performance against KKR was dismal. The bowling attack gave up too many runs, and the batting unit fell short of the 205-run mark. However, RCB began their Indian Premier League 2023 campaign with an 8-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians. RCB has a strong team with many potential game-changers, but they need to rediscover their form to win the IPL for the first time.
