Rishabh Pant Will Be A Part Of Delhi Capitals In IPL 2023

The management of the Delhi Capitals squad, according to head coach Ricky Ponting, will miss skipper Rishabh Pant in the next Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season. Due to injuries received in a car accident in December of last year, the wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was disqualified from participating in the upcoming edition of the event.

For the IPL 2021 season, Rishabh Pant was chosen as the team’s captain. Under his leadership, the club finished first in the league standings. Due to their loss against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Qualifier 2, they were unable to advance to the championship game. With seven victories in 14 games and a fifth-place finish in the standings, the Delhi Capitals had an ordinary season last year and were unable to advance to the playoffs.

“In an ideal world for me, he’d be sitting next to me in the dugout every match. But if that’s not possible, we’d like to make him part of the team in ways possible. We can have his number on our shirts or on caps. Just to make it clear that he’s our leader, even if he’s not with us,” Ricky Ponting said.

David Warner, a seasoned opener who helped Sunrisers Hyderabad win their sole IPL championship in 2016, was chosen as the team’s new captain. Midway through the IPL 2021, Warner was fired as the SRH captain, and the team made the decision not to keep him on. He was purchased by the Delhi Capitals in the 2022 mega auction for Rs 6.25 crore.

The new IPL season will begin on March 31 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. In the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday, April 1, the Caps will face the Lucknow Super Giants to open their campaign in the big championship.
