Riyan Parag finally came up clutch in an IPL game for the Rajasthan Royals. RR have backed him right from the start despite not getting the required output from him. Fans and others have criticised Rajasthan for their excessive backing on Riyan Parag. However, they kept their faith in Parag. RR bought him back again in the IPL 2022 auction and invested in him.
Finally, in the second match against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, Riyan Parag repaid the trust that had been put on him. He saved Rajasthan Royals from a precarious position at one stage. He not only saved them, but accelerated his innings in a manner, that Rajasthan reached the total of 185 in their 20 overs. Riyan Parag played a breathtaking innings of 84 runs off just 45 balls. He smashed one of the most premier pacers in the world, Anrich Nortje, for 25 runs in the final over. His innings was the difference between the two teams as Rajasthan beat Delhi by 12 runs at the end of the game. Parag also won the Player Of The match award for his exploits.
Riyan Parag Responds To The Social Media Trolls
Riyan Parag has faced incessant trolls on social media all these years for his under performance. However, this season he has been coming off a superb domestic seasons. At the end of the match Parag responded to the trolls on social media. He expressed his confidence on his abilities. He also talked about his mother, how she has seen him struggle all these years. Parag even talked about his domestic performances which have provided him the confidence for IPL 2024.
Riyan Parag said: “[emotions] They are settled, mom is here, she has seen the struggle, the last 3-4 years. I know what my opinion is about myself. That does not change regardless of whether I get a zero or not. That’s a lot to do with the type of season as well, I had a great domestic season and that helps. Someone in the top four has to play the 20 overs, the wicket was keeping low and stopping, in the first game Sanju bhayya did it. I have worked very hard, the last 3 days I was in bed, I was on painkillers, I just got up today and I’m very happy.”
