At the start of the IPL 2024, barely any fan would have thought that Riyan Parag would get to wear the Orange Cap in the tournament and would be the contender for the same.
But the promotion given to him by Rajasthan Royals to the number 4 position, his hard work behind the scenes, and his carrying his domestic form into the IPL 2024 meant that by the end of his third innings in the season, Riyan Parag proudly donned the Orange Cap, sitting at equal scores with Virat Kohli.
Parag started with a score of 43 vs LSG, and followed it up with 84* vs DC and 54* vs MI, helping RR win all their three matches so far.

Over the past few seasons, Parag used to get trolled for his off-field activities on social media, some of his statements, and his dancing too. But the Royals kept their faith in their investment and it’s paying rich dividends now.
Wasim Jaffer, the former India batsman, took to Twitter to hail Riyan Parag for his brilliant start to the IPL 2024. Jaffer commended Parag for turning his critics into admirers. Jaffer also believes Parag would soon be in the Indian team setup given he also bowls handy spin.

Speaking about his knock against MI, Parag said, “When I play domestically, this is the exact type of situation I go in to bat. When Jos [Buttler] bhai got out and Ash [R Ashwin] bhai got out a little after, I was like ‘this is what I do, this is what I’ve been doing for the last six months playing domestic cricket’. So it was pretty simple to calculate everything.”
