IPL 2024: "Ro Aa Gaya..." - Rohit Sharma Received A Grand Welcome At Mumbai Indians' Camp

Regardless of his captaincy status, Indian captain Rohit Sharma remains a crucial player for his team Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. Rohit is one of the most successful captains in IPL history, leading Mumbai Indians to title victory five times. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians achieved tremendous success and became one of the most dominant IPL franchises alongside Chennai Super Kings.

However, in the upcoming 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League, Rohit Sharma will not lead the team as Mumbai Indians have appointed Hardik Pandya as their new captain. Despite this change, Rohit’s role in the team remains significant. While the Mumbai Indians have already commenced their training for IPL 2024, Rohit Sharma took a break following India’s Test series against England.

On Monday, the Indian cricket team captain finally joined the camp, and the franchises announced his arrival in the most unique way possible. In a video post with the caption, “Woh aa gaya…Ro aa gaya (Rohit is here),” a boy can be seen telling his friend: “Woh aa gaya. Jo garden mein ghoomne nahi deta.”

During India vs England Test series, Rohit Sharma famously urged youngsters to field with intensity, likening it to not strolling around a garden.

Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya addressed the unexpected change in leadership, stating that Rohit Sharma will still offer guidance during the IPL season. Despite the surprising decision to replace Rohit with Pandya as captain, Pandya acknowledges Rohit’s significant contribution to the team’s success, having led them to five titles. Speaking at the media interaction, Hardik said:

“It will not be any different, he will always be there to help me. You mentioned that he is the captain of the Indian team, which helps me because this team, what it has achieved, it has achieved under him “…from now onwards, it is (about) what he has achieved, I just have to carry forward that.”

He added: “I don’t think it will be any awkward or any different. It will be nice feeling because we have been playing for 10 years. I have played my whole career under him and he is going to have his hand on my shoulder throughout the season.”
