The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul made a cheeky, self-derogatory joke about his journey with multiple injuries over the past couple of years at the toss on Sunday against Rajasthan Royals.
LSG and RR got their IPL 2024 campaign underway on Sunday afternoon at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.
KL Rahul returned to action after missing the last four out of five Tests against England through a quad injury. He resumed his positon as the LSG captain. Last season, he suffered a thigh injury in the latter stage of IPL 2023 and missed the playoffs, where LSG were knocked out in the Eliminator by Mumbai Indians.
He had a bumper World Cup 2023 tournament and scored a great century in Centurion in a Test against South Africa. He also hit a fifty in first Test against England, but missed the rest of the series due to the injury.
Happy to be back on the field: KL Rahul

Over the past 2-3 years, KL Rahul, now aged 31 and also part of the Team India leadership roles in ODIs and Tests, has missed plenty of matches because of injuries.
When Sanjay Manjrekar asked KL Rahul about his trysts with injuries in recent years, the LSG captain responded: “Happy to be back on the field. Injuries have become my best friend in the last two years, but I’m trying to do my best when I get my chances.”
RR captain Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bat first.
