Bangladesh cricket has seen a big resurgence in the past few years with the current crops punching above their weight to beat some big names, including Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. One of their star players during this time has been Sabbir Rahman. The batsman has been in good touch over the past few years but has also come under criticism for his Twitter remarks.
He was infamous for once having said that the Bangladeshi side could chase down 500 runs in an ODI match. While he deservedly got lambasted, it seems he is taking it a notch higher with his recent comments.
Can be Virat:
Sabbir Rahman has claimed that he can become an ace batsman like Virat Kohli for Bangladesh. While this is ambitious, Rahman is nowhere close to the numbers that Kohli has racked up for Indian cricket.

He is the most successful batsman across all three formats currently playing and is also the most consistent. On top of that, he is the captain of the squad and is also the holder of some of the biggest records in international cricket. Kohli also recently equalled the record for second most number of centuries in ODIs, equalling Ponting’s number of 30.
Rahman has not reached that level and is nowhere close to doing so, but he did play a crucial innings, having hit 66 in Bangladesh’s second innings against Australia, pulling them up when they were reeling at 115/5.
Twitter reacts:
Twitter was not having any of Sabbir’s remarks as they vented their fury and amusement at the Bangladeshi’s statements.
