The class of King Kohli was on full display as he made a return to the cricketing action. Virat notched up his 45th ton in the opening match against Sri Lanka at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. With this performance, Virat put himself on par with Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 20 ODI tons at home when he scored 113 against Sri Lanka in Guwahati. He has been receiving praise from all corners for his achievement. However, one of the most special messages came from the maestro himself.

The master blaster, Sachin Tendulkar also took to his social media and posted a beautiful tweet for Kohli. In his tweet, he hailed Virat Kohli for his knock and also praised Rohit and Shubman Gill for their contribution. He wrote:

“इसी तरह विराट प्रदर्शन करते रहना,
भारत का नाम रौशन करते रहना।

Splendid batting performance by the top order! #INDvSL @imVkohli @ImRo45 @ShubmanGill”

(which roughly translates to: Keep showcasing your talent like this Virat, make India proud) Splendid batting performance by the top order! #INDvSL @imVkohli @ImRo45 @ShubmanGill.”)

Check out the Tweet:

Talking about Kohli’s knock, he walked out to bat at no. 3 when Shubman Gill was dismissed after a terrific century opening partnership with captain Rohit Sharma. However, Kohli continued with the momentum and smashed the Sri Lankan bowlers all over the park. The superstar batter was dropped twice, however, he made full use of the chances and smashed his 45th ODI century that helped team India post a mammoth target of 373 runs against Sri Lanka. He eventually made 113 runs off 87 runs. His stunning knock was laced with 12 boundaries and a solitary six.

This is Virat Kohli’s 9th hundred in ODIs vs Sri Lanka and overall 73rd century. To go with his 45 ODI hundreds, he has 27 in the Test format and one in T20I.
