It seems like Pakistan cricket team is always under controversy. They are always in the spotlight in the media for one or the other bad reasons. Now, there is new set to controversy that has erupted. Pakistan were horrendous in the ODI World Cup 2023 and were knocked out of the group stage in India. They suffered a humiliating defeat against India and Afghanistan in the ODI World Cup 2023. After the tournament, Babar Azam was forced to relinquish his captaincy duties. Shaheen Shah Afridi was made the T20I captain and Shan Masood was made the test captain.

However, as the PCB officials changed yet again, Babar Azam was given the ODI and T20I captaincy again ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 and Shaheen was relieved from his duties. Pakistan had yet another disastrous T20 World Cup campaign losing against USA and failing to complete a straight forward chase against India. The Men In Green were knocked out from the group stage yet again and there were huge criticisms directed at the team.
There were reported news of politics with Babar Azam inside the team and now fresh reports have emerged stating that Shaheen Shah Afridi was also a concern of nuisance for the team. Pakistan head catch, Gary Kirsten and assistant coach, Azhar Mahmood, have submitted a report which states that Shaheen has badly misbehaved with the coaches. Senior team management personnel Wahab Riaz and Mansoor Rana did not punish him despite his actions.
Kirsten and Mahmood have also raised concerns about internal politics within the team, creating lobbies and planning to go against each other. After the sudden sacking of Shaheen, concerns have been raised that all is not well between him and Babar Azam, The report from Kirsten and Mahmood adds more fuel to the fire.
