However, as the PCB officials changed yet again, Babar Azam was given the ODI and T20I captaincy again ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 and Shaheen was relieved from his duties. The Men In Green were knocked out from the group stage yet again and there were huge criticisms directed at the team.

There were reported news of politics with Babar Azam inside the team and now fresh reports have emerged stating that Shaheen Shah Afridi was also a concern of nuisance for the team. Pakistan head catch, Gary Kirsten and assistant coach, Azhar Mahmood, have submitted a report which states that Shaheen has badly misbehaved with the coaches. Senior team management personnel Wahab Riaz and Mansoor Rana did not punish him despite his actions.
