Shahid Afridi Made A Big Statement On India’s Performance Against England

Shahid Afridi Made A Big Statement On India’s Performance Against England: The Indian team has continued their winning juggernaut under skipper Rohit Sharma by thrashing the white-ball behemoth England side in their own backyard and secured an unassailable 2-0 series lead with one match to go.

In the first T20I, in Southampton, India won by 50 runs on the back of a stunning, record-creating all-round show from Hardik Pandya – who became the first Indian cricketer to hit a fifty and take 4 wickets in a T20I match. Chasing 199, England were bowled out for 148.

India haven’t lost a single match under Rohit Sharma in 2022

Then, in the second match of the series, at Edgbaston, India were in a bit of a pickle when at 122/6 before Ravindra Jadeja’s brilliant innings of 46 runs off 29 balls helped them put up 170, which proved to be 49 runs more than what England could manage as the Indian bowling unit once again bowled them out, led by a stunning effort from Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

The Indian team under Rohit Sharma has now won all the four series since he took over after the T20 World Cup last year; under Sharma, the Men In Blue are now on a 14-T20I winning streak!

Shahid Afridi praises Team India

Former Pakistani captain and legendary all-rounder Shahid Afridi reserved high praise for the Indian team following their win in Edgbaston. He applauded the bowling performances in the two matches, and also went on to label India as a favourite for the T20 World Cup in Australia in October-November.

“India have played outstanding cricket and deserve to win the series. Really impressive bowling performance, they’ll surely be one of the favourites for the T20 World Cup in Australia,” Shahid Afridi tweeted.

India’s build-up for the T20 World Cup has gained a massive boost with a series win over England and the team is getting closer to finalizing its players. They will look to bouncer back and put the horrors of last year’s T20 World Cup behind where they crashed out of the group stage.

The third T20I between India and England is slated for Sunday at Trent Bridge.
