Virat Kohli’s Childhood Coach Slammed Kapil Dev For His Remarks On Former Captain’s Form

Virat Kohli continued with his poor run: Virat Kohli’s childhood coach, Mr. Rajkumar Sharma slammed the former Indian captain Kapil Dev for his remarks about out-of-form Virat Kohli.

Virat Kohli Is Going Through A Rough Patch

After enduring a forgettable season with Royal Challengers Bangalore, where he could only manage 341 runs in 16 games, with an average of 22.73 and a strike rate of 115.98, he continued his poor form in the fifth and final Test against England, as he was dismissed after scoring just 11 and 20 runs.

He made a return to the T20I action in the 2nd T20I match against England, however, he once again failed to make it big as he flopped big time. He was dismissed after scoring just 1 run.

Meanwhile, if reports are to be believed then the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may have the batting maestro sit out of the ICC World T20I 20222, which will take place in Australia in October this year. While several cricketers and experts have backed the former captain for the upcoming marquee event, on the other hand, Kapil Dev had openly criticized Kohli and had even asked about resting the batter from the T20I format.

Kapil Dev’s statement against Kohli

Kapil Dev had also reckoned that Kohli must improve and went on to say that if Ravi Ashwin can be dropped from the Test squad, Virat can be dropped from the T20I squad as well. He had said:

“Yes, now the situation is such that you might be forced to bench Kohli from T20 playing eleven. If world No. 2 bowler Ashwin can be dropped from Test side then (once upon a time) world No. 1 batter can also be dropped,

“Virat is not batting at a level which we have seen him do over the years. He has made a name because of his performances but if he isn’t performing, then you can’t keep the performing youngsters out of the team. I want competition for places in team in a positive sense that these youngsters should try and outperform Virat,” Dev added.

Rajkumar Sharma Slammed Kapil Dev

Now on Saturday, Rajkumar Sharma expressed his displeasure on Kapil Dev’s statement and hailed the achievements of King Kohli. He said:

“I do not support the statements made by Kapil Dev on Virat Kohli. Nothing big happened with Virat that such kind of statement has been issued. Why is there so much hurry with Virat, he has done so well for the country. Making 70 international centuries is not a small thing. I do not think the board will make a decision to have him sit on the bench,”
