Sharyar Khan is interested in starting the Indo-Pak series: Anurag Thakur

Newly elected Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary (BCCI) Anurag Thakur today said Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Sharyar Khan showed keenness in reviving the India-Pakistan series during their meet earlier this week.

“During our talk, we raised the issue of the Pakistan-India series. We just initiated the talks and he initiated his view point and he talked about the discussions held with the previous office bearers. So we have not finalised anything as of now. He was just interested in starting the Indo-Pak series,” Anurag Thakur told reporters in Mumbai. 

Earlier, addressing a press conference in Lahore, the PCB chief had said the current Indian government’s attitude is “relatively” better, and the first home series between the two countries will be played in December 2015 in UAE.

Sharyar Khan, who was India last week, said he couldn’t meet newly appointed BCCI chief Jagmohan Dalmiya due to the latter’s illness, however, Khan told the media that he positive discussions with Dalmiya over telephone.

Resumption of cricket between the two countries was discussed,” Sharyar Khan told media persons.

Netherlands, Nepal and Ireland are also willing to tour Pakistan soon, the PCB chairman added.
