Former West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul and son Tagenarine Chanderpaul scored fifties in the same first-class match on Sunday. Tagenarine, 20, opened the innings while Shivnarine, 42, came in third drop. The two added 38 runs for the fourth wicket in 12.2 overs.

Tagenarine opened for Guyana and gave a strong start to the team with the help of Shimron Hetymer. He scored 58 runs with the strike rate of 42.96. Shivnarine came in the third drop to score 57 runs to take the total of the home side to 262 against Jamaica’s 255.

Tagernarine’s style is very much like his father Shivnarine Chanderpaul. He also hammers the bail into the ground to mark his guard.
