Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik came into the firing line of fans who speculated spot-fixing and match-fixing during the match between Fortune Barishal and Khulna Tigers in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League as Malik bowled three no balls in an over.
Bowling for Fortune Barishal in Mirupur against Khulna, Shoaib Malik conceded 18 runs in the only over he bowled in the game. It was baffling to the fans that Malik bowled three no-balls in an over, despite being a spinner. What was even more shocking was the in an image that has gone viral of Shoaib Malik’s no-ball, the non-striker is standing casually even behind the stumps.
While fans had not already gotten over Malik’s personal news of his marrying actress Sana Javed and divorcing India tennis star Sania Mirza after 13 years of their wedding, this new topic gave the netizens a more popcorn-worthy talking point.
Malik returned to on-field action in the Bangladesh Premier League, however, this is now marred with a new controversy with fans being certain that the 41-year-old bowled the three no-balls intentionally. Shoaib Malik or the BPL have not responded to fans’ allegations yet, but that didn’t stop the social media users from attacking the veteran Pakistani cricketer with some funny tweets.
Shoaib Malik got trolled on Twitter as fans speculate match-fixing:
