He came, he saw, he conquered, he left. All in style. No, today this headline isn’t for Suryakumar Yadav, but is for young Yashasvi Jaiswal who hit KKR with a storm that they didn’t expect, especially not a pitch where they struggled to reach even 150.
What was a two-paced track during KKR’s innings at the Eden Gardens, suddenly seemed to be a batting paradise when Yashasvi was batting. But anyone who saw this incredible knock – which included the IPL record of a 13-ball fastest fifty – would attest to the fact that it was the 21-year-old Rajasthan Royals opener who made it all happen.
Right from the first ball he faced and the second as well, dispatching both of it for sixes – only the second it has happened in the IPL history that the first two balls of a team innings have been hit for two sixes – Jaiswal was on song and had laid down the marker with a first over that went for 26 runs.
Even Jos Buttler’s run-out in the next over didn’t deter young Jaiswal from playing his strokes with freedom; Sanju Samson, the RR captain, gave Yashasvi Jaiswal the strike and the left-hander kept rattling boundary after boundary.
Overall, in his knock of 98* runs off 47 balls,RR Batter cracked 13 fours and 5 sixes.
Mumbai Indians batter was certainly entertained by the “Entertainer” Jaiswal.
Here, check out Suryakumar Yadav’s special post for Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal, while recieving the Player of the Match award, said: “This is always in my mind, to go out there and play well. It was a nice feeling today. It is not like everything I wanted happens, I prepare well and I trust in myself. I know the results will come. The winning shot was a great feeling, I wanted to finish the game and winning the game has been my motto.
“I’m blessed and grateful, I’m trying my best. (On whether he feels he missed out on a century) I think the net run rate was the only thing in our mind, me and Sanju were only talking about finishing the game quickly. (On the Buttler run out) I think it happens in the game, it gives me responsibility to do even better. And Sanju bhai came and said to keep playing my game, and not think about that run out. I’m just grateful for a tournament like the IPL where youngsters like me can come and perform. This has been a great platform for players like me to fulfill my dreams.”
