SRK Wrote A Beautiful Tweet After Becoming Proud Owner Of A Women’s Cricket Team: The Knight Riders have further expanded their cricketing teams and have now announced their first-ever women’s team, the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) which is one of the founding members of the inaugural season of the Women Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) which will take place later this year alongside the men’s CPL.

The WCPL is set to start on August 30 will take place at the same time as the Men’s CPL. The first-ever season of the league will have just three teams: Trinbago Knight Riders, Barbados Royals (BR) and Guyana Amazon Warriors (GWR).

“The addition of a women’s event to the CPL is something that has been an ambition for a long time and we are very pleased that it has become a reality,” said Pete Russell, CPL’s CEO.

SRK wrote a special tweet welcoming women’s TKR

Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan, the co-owner of the Knight Riders franchise, expressed his elation as the Knight Riders family expands its wings into women’s cricket.

‘King Khan’ took to Twitter to welcome the new franchise and also committed to try and watch the side in action during the season.

“This is such a happy moment for all of us at @KKRiders @ADKRiders & of course, the lovely set of people at @TKRiders. Hope I can make it there to see this live!!” SRK tweeted.

The Knight Riders group own multiple teams across the globe. Alongside the two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders, they have the Trinidad-based franchise in the men’s CPL who are four-time title winners and in the WCPL; they are owners of the Los Angeles Knight Riders and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the upcoming Major Cricket League and UAE T20 League.
