Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina gave a piece of good news to his fans as he signed up for the upcoming auctions for the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023.
Suresh Raina Is All Set To Make A Comeback
The fourth edition of the premier T20 domestic tournament of Sri Lanka will take place from July 31- August 22. The auction will take place on June 14th in Colombo, and Raina will go under the hammer at his base price of USD 50,000.
For the unversed, Raina announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in September 2022. He was last seen playing in the Legends League Cricket in March this year.
Suresh Raina is one of the most popular and loved cricketers in Indian cricket. He has played an instrumental role in Chennai Super Kings’ success in the Indian Premier League. He was a part of CSK’s title wins in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021. He was also the vice-captain of CSK and is also their leading run-scorer with 4,687 runs in 176 matches.
Besides playing for CSK, Raina also captained the Gujarat Lions in 2016 and 2017, leading the side to the top of the points table in the first season. With over 5,500 runs in his overall IPL career, Raina ranks sixth in the all-time leading run-scorer list in league history.
Talking about his international career, Raina finished his career on a high with nearly 8,000 runs. He played a vital role in India’s title runs at the 2011 ODI World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy.
Raina Can Be Seen Playing Alongside Babar Azam
Meanwhile, Suresh Raina’s inclusion in the Lanka Premier League has delighted the fans, as there are possibilities of the southpaw playing alongside Babar Azam, who plays for Colombo Strikers.
If Raina gets picked up by the Colombo Strikers, he will also play with the likes of Matheesha Pathirana, Naseem Shah, and Chamika Karunaratne.
