T20 World Cup 2022: Ricky Ponting Predicted His Two Favorite Teams To Reach The World Cup Final

The ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 has reached a very interesting stage in the Super 12, where both the groups are tightly contested and while the tournament is heading towards the semi-final rounds, there is still no confirmation as to which teams can go to the last round of the ongoing contest. Therefore, as of now, it is very hard to predict which two teams will reach the final showdown of the tournament.

So, before we get the final two names, cricketers and experts are busy predicting the two teams to compete in the summit clash of the marquee event in Melbourne on October 14th. The latest one to join the bandwagon is former Australian captain Ricky Ponting, who has predicted the two teams that will reach the finals of the T20 World Cup 2022.

Ricky Ponting has predicted Australia and India as the two finalists of the ongoing tournament, even though South Africa has looked dangerous throughout the tournament. In his ICC column, Ricky wrote: “Honestly, who knows who is going to be playing in Melbourne. I hope Australia find a way to get through the group. South Africa are the only unbeaten team left so they will be dangerous but I will say what I did at the start and that is an Australia v India final,”

India is currently sitting on top of the points table of the Super 12 stage, having won three of their four games, against – Pakistan, Netherlands, and Bangladesh. However, they have suffered a defeat at the hands of South Africa and need to win their final game vs Zimbabwe to confirm a place in the semi-final.

On the other hand, Australia is currently sitting third in the Group 1 table. Australia has endured tough competition at home so far. After losing their opening game by a big margin they returned back to beat Sri Lanka in their 2nd game. Their crucial game against England was washed out and the points were shared, while they defeated Ireland in their last game.
