The Indian cricket team is just two steps away from fulfilling their dream of lifting the prestigious trophy of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. India stamped their tickets for the semi-final round of the T20 World Cup 2022 with a thumping 71-run win over Zimbabwe in their final Super 12 game. On the other hand, the England team finished second in Group 1 behind New Zealand. India and England are all set to collide against each other in a blockbuster semi-final at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday, November 10.
Ahead of the game, the England captain Jos Buttler hailed India and his former captain at Mumbai Indians Rohit Sharma. Jos Butter said that during his time at Mumbai Indians, he found Rohit Sharma to be extremely tactically astute. In an interaction with Sunday Times, Buttler said:
“They (India) are a brilliant team and Rohit Sharma is a brilliant captain who I think has asked them to play more positively and with more freedom. I was a bit young in my IPL journey, but tactically I thought he was very good, making good decisions but not always the obvious ones,”
For the unversed, Jos Buttler made his debut in the Indian Premier League with the Mumbai Indians franchise in 2016 and 2017. However, his breakthrough season in the cash-rich league came in 2018 with the Rajasthan Royals.
Further, Buttler hailed Rohit for his captaincy skills. He claimed that Rohit’s captaincy is as effortless as his batting skills. He said: “He has that sense of calm when everything around him is going on at a million miles an hour. A bit like when he bats, he makes it look pretty effortless,“
Talking about Rohit Sharma, while he has impressed everyone with his captaincy skills, he hasn’t been successful with the bat in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. He has scored just 89 runs in 5 games, which includes only one half-century against the Netherlands. As the Indian side is all set to take on England in the semi-final round, fans are expecting Rohit to go big with the bat.
