The International cricket Council announced the ‘ICC Test Team of The Year 2016’ and interestingly, there is no place for India’s Test skipper and ace batsman Virat Kohli in this team. Virat Kohli scored 1215 runs in 2016 from 12 Test (18 innings) at an average of 75.93, with four centuries and two half-centuries.

England’s Alastair Cook is named the captain of the ICC Test team of the Year that features four Englishmen (Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Johny Bairstow and Cook). Apart from them, the Test team of the year features David Warner, Kane Williamson, Adam Voges, R Ashwin, Rangana Herath, Mitchell Starc and Dale Steyn. Steve Smith is named the 12th man for the ICC Test team of the Year.

Ravichandran Ashwin is the only Indian to feature in ‘ICC Test Team of The Year 2016’. Ashwin gave many match-winning performances for India in 2016.
