MS Dhoni is, arguably, the best wicketkeeper in the history of the game. He doesn’t have the best technique when it come to wicketkeeping, but he uses his out of the box tricks to great effect to outfox opposition batsmen.

Over the years, we have seen MS Dhoni pull out some of the most unbelievable tricks behind the stumps. From lightning fast stumping to flicking the ball onto the stumps between his legs, Dhoni never fails to amaze fans with his unorthodox style of wicketkeeping.

He is also very vocal behind stumps. Being a great reader of the game, MS Dhoni keeps sharing his inputs with bowlers and, sometimes, the stump mic catches it loud and clear. In the first match of the ongoing ODI series between India and Australia, the stump mic caught MS Dhoni passing on valuable tips to Indian spinners, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav.

When Glenn Maxwell was hitting everything pretty much from the middle of the bat, Indian spinners started bowling flat. It was then MS Dhoni gave them confidence and advised them to pitch it up and turn the ball.

“Woh maarne wala dalna, andar ya baahar koi phi (Let him hit. Pitch it up and turn it either way).

“Who ghoomne wala daal” (Turn the ball)

When Yuzvendra Chahal was flighting it a little too much to Glenn Maxwell, Dhoni shouted from the behind the stumps and told him to hold his length back.

“Na, na, na. Isko itna aage nahi (Don’t bowl too full to Glenn Maxwell).”

MS Dhoni is one of the best students of the game. His ability to read the game and make subtle changes is one of the biggest reasons behind his overwhelming success as India’s captain. In the first ODI, Dhoni made sure that young spinners; Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, don’t get too nervous and kept talking to them.
