Along with Ravi Shastri, Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun, fielding coach R Sridhar and physiotherapist Nitin Patel have also been isolated. In a statement, BCCI honorary secretary Jay Shah said:
“The BCCI medical team has isolated Ravi Shastri, head coach, B. Arun, bowling Coach, R. Sridhar, fielding coach and Nitin Patel, physiotherapist as a precautionary measure after Shastri’s lateral flow test returned positive last evening.
“They have undergone RT-PCR testing and shall remain in the team hotel and not travel with Team India until confirmation from the medical team,”
Meanwhile, the fourth match between India and England has resumed on Day 4 at a score of 270/3, with skipper Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja in the middle and the team leading by 171 runs. The visitors look forward to posting a big total on the scoreboard.
The statement also revealed that the rest of the members of the Indian team contingent also underwent two lateral flow tests and those who returned negative in their COVID-19 reports were allowed to proceed on Day 4. He said:
“The remaining members of the Team India contingent underwent two lateral flow tests – one last night and another this morning. The members upon returning negative COVID reports were allowed to proceed for Day 4 of the ongoing fourth Test at The Oval,”
COVID-19 scare is very much there. The presence of mask-less fans at The oval shouldn’t lull anyone into feeling otherwise. There can be no let-up in safety procedures or quarantine rules. Masking and social distancing even after taking vaccines is essential #cricket #EngvInd
