One of the most improved bowlers in the Indian cricket team over the past two years or so has been Bhuvneshwar Kumar and he stepped up today when the team needed to win the most. Bhuvi was always known to be a fine exponent of the swinging ball and today he showed his ability.
Bowling to the Kiwi batsman Nicholls who was looking threatening after forming a partnership with Colin de Grandhomme, a breakthrough was needed badly and Bhuvi was the one who provided it, in style.
The bowler bowled a peach of a delivery to the Kiwi batsman from around the wicket in the fifth ball of his fifth over and ensured that India ended up winning the game comfortably. Bhuvneshwar Kumar took three crucial wickets and won the match of the match award. He has been one of the biggest reasons why India have done well in limited overs cricket in the last 12 months or so.
Bhuvi’s biggest criticism was his lack of pace but now he has worked extremely hard on his fitness and now his average speed is in late 130s. Also, he is one of the fittest cricketers in India. He has a very lean body but he work very hard on his core and stays fit.
