Hardik Pandya played a brilliant innings in the first match of the ongoing 5-match ODI series between India and Australia. India lost 5 early wicket and it was all left to MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya to construct the innings.
MS Dhoni absorbed the pressure from one end and Hardik Pandya kept counter attacking from the other. They formed a brilliant partnership and gave the much-needed stability to the innings.
Hardik Pandya took the role of aggressor and made sure runs kept flowing at a brisk pace. He took on the Australian bowlers and smashed a classy 83 of 66 balls. He was especially severe on Australian leg spinner Adam Zampa and smashed 3 big sixes on consecutive balls.
He was ably supported by Mahendra Singh Dhoni from other end, who as always kept his cool and kept on rotating the strike. Pandya looked confident from the very first ball he faced and didn’t shy away from hitting a boundary when he got the chance.
He forged a 118 runs partnership with MSD and made sure India get out from a tight spot after losing 3 wickets for just 11 at the start of the innings. He reached his fifty after striking Adam Zampa for 3 consecutive sixes and smashed one more six off him, after he returned to bowl another over.
Pandya’s hitting was flawless and reminded of a young Yuvraj Singh, who could hit sixes at will.
