On April 3, the MS Dhoni-led CSK will face LSG at home in their inaugural match.

MS Dhoni, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings, was spotted working out at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai ahead of the sixteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). On March 31, the Chennai-based team will play their opening match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad against the reigning champion Gujarat Titans.

A few players and staff members of the team are getting ready with practises at Chennai’s M. A. Chidambaram Stadium as the season approaches. MS Dhoni, the captain of CSK, is plainly seen working up a sweat during one of the net sessions in a video posted by CSK’s official Instagram account.

An unflappable MS Dhoni can be seen playing the “no-look” six in the video. While there is considerable talk about his retirement, supporters might see the captain play for CSK one last time this year while donning the yellow uniform.

CSK aim for fifth title

It’s important to remember that the Chennai franchise had a difficult time in IPL 2022. After just four victories in 14 games played the previous season, the team ended second to last in the standings. Also, the side encountered difficulties since Ravindra Jadeja, Dhoni’s longtime assistant, was given the reins but was unable to make the necessary impact for the team.

Dhoni took back his position as team captain for the balance of the season after the team’s successive defeats. When they begin their season against Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans, they will be looking to redeem themselves after last year’s disaster.

The team did okay at the mini-auction in December 2022, winning the likes of Ajinkya Rahane and English all-rounder Ben Stokes for a whopping INR 16.25 crore. The four-time IPL champions, like the other franchises, play seven home games
