It seems that the Chennai Super Kings and their star all-rounder Ben Stokes haven’t yet sat down and discussed their plans regarding the all-rounder availability for the playoffs of the IPL 2023.
Earlier Ben Stokes, the England Test captain, had confirmed that he will not only play in the Test match against Ireland, which will start just 3 days after the IPL final date, but he will “be making sure I give myself enough time to get back”, which means perhaps missing the playoffs should CSK reach that stage.
Ben Stokes hinted that he will leave the IPL early, missing the playoffs

Now, though, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has said that there is no such information to his knowledge about Stokes leaving early. Viswanathan revealed that prior to the auction, the BCCI held a meeting with the franchises in which it said the players will be available for the entire season.
“That is our understanding. Before the auction, the BCCI had conveyed to us that the English players will be available for the entire IPL,” the Viswanathan told Cricbuzz on Thursday. “We’ve not had any information that is contrary to the BCCI communication.”

The Ireland Test is a precursor for the Ashes and will be important for the English players to get in groove of the red-ball cricket. Apart from Ben Stokes, who was bought for INR 16.25 cr by CSK, there are other England Test players in the IPL 2023 who may fly early.
The likes of Sam Curran (bought for INR 18.5 crore by PBKS), Joe Root (RR), Jonny Bairstow (PBKS), and Harry Brook (SRH),
The availability later, but CSK have also been given a jolt about Ben Stokes fitness: the England Test skipper is reportedly suffered a knee injury that even curtailed his movements in the recent Wellington Test against New Zealand.
While Stokes has asserted he will be playing in the IPL for CSK, this injury has put a cloud now considering the important Ashes series in June.
Apart from the England players, there are a number of Australian players as well who could leave the IPL 2023 before its end. Australia have qualified for the WTC final with their win in Indore.
The WTC final is slated to be played 10 days after the IPL 2023 final. Should Cricket Australia (CA) ask their players to leave the IPL early to prepare for the WTC final, three teams will lose out on quality players.
David Warner, who is the captain of DC, MI all-rounder Cameron Green, and RCB pacer Josh Hazlewood are the ones who might be pulled out early from the IPL.

A senior BCCI official, however, is optimistic that the players from both these countries will fulfill their time in the IPL this season. Rest, it is up to the players and their boards.
“There is nothing to communicate. We still understand that both England and Australian players are available for the entire duration. But if some players want to end their IPL stint early and go back for national team camp, it is complete up to the players. No boards have set up a conditional NOC in regards to national team games so far,” the BCCI official told InsideSport.
