Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli once again failed to make it big with the bat in the Test format as he was dismissed for 22 runs toward the end of the first session of the ongoing 3rd Test match against Australia on Wednesday.
Kohli hasn’t been in his prime in the longest format of the game. Though, he looked good playing his first match in his hometown in four years, he only produced scores of 44 and 20 in both innings of the fixture at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Earlier, he scored just 12 runs in the first innings of the first Test match against Australia in Nagpur.
On Wednesday as Virat Kohli was dismissed for 22 runs his wait to end the century drought in the longest format was elongated.
Kohli walked out to bat in a precarious situation, with the scoreboard reading 34-2 in the eighth over. He held one hand as wickets kept falling from the other end courtesy of poor shots selection and the brilliance of the Australian spinners. The Indian side soon found themselves stuttering at 45-5 inside the first hour of play.
The former captain, who was struggling with spin bowling of late, got comfortable on-field and somehow found a way to keep the scoreboard ticking as well, However, his inning was cut short after he chose to play a nonchalant flick off the front foot against Todd Murphy, who came up around the wicket.
With this, dismissed by Matthew Kuhnemann, the former skipper has been dismissed by the young off-spinner Todd Murphy in the series so far.
