The versatile Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal shared his aspirations of doing a biopic of former India batsman and KKR captain Gautam Gambhir. The actor famous for his roles in Uri and Dunki shared this dream of his while commentating on Sunday’s spicy World Cup 2023 fixture between India and South Africa in Kolkata.
Vicky Kaushal was invited by broadcaster Star Sports in their commentary studio in the first hour of the India vs South Africa match on Sunday at the Eden Gardens and he did a breif stint in Hindi commentary. As Rohit Sharma was walloping fours and sixes to the South African bowlers in the first powerplay, Vicky Kaushal entertained the crowd with his knowledge and experience of cricket while doing commentary alongside Gautam Gambhir.
I would love to do the role of Gautam Gambhir: Vicky Kaushal
When a commentator beside them asked Vicky Kaushal about which cricketer’s biopic he’d want to do, the 35-year-old Bollywood star promptly named Gautam Gambhir.
“I would love to do the role of Gautam Gambhir if the movie makes,” Vicky Kaushal reportedly said. This even made the usually-tranquil Gambhir smile.
Fans would love to see a biopic of Gambhir, who was India’s highest run-scorer in the finals of the 2007 T20 World Cup against Pakistan and the 2011 World Cup final against Sri Lanka. Gambhir remains the only captain to lead KKR to not one but two IPL trophies. KKR haven’t won a single IPL trophy under any other captain.
Gautam is currently the global mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) franchise and its sister franchises in other T20 leagues in the world.
Meanwhile, talking about the India vs South Africa match, India are in a position of dominance. Rohit Sharma smashed 40 runs in 24 balls as India got off to a flyer on a tough pitch. Then Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer held the fort during the middle-overs. Iyer got out after scoring 77 runs in 87 balls while Kohli is batting at 75 runs in 95 balls.
