Former South Africa captain AB de Villiers, who shares a great bond of friendship with Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli, revealed the real reason behind Virat Kohli’s absence from the first two Test matches against England. It has to be noted that Kohli was originally included in the squad for the first two Tests but withdrew from both matches before the Hyderabad tie, citing personal reasons.
Virat Kohli And Anushka Sharma’s Second Child Is On The Way

AB de Villiers shared on Saturday that he reached out to Virat Kohli after the Indian batter pulled out from the first two Tests against England. He assured fans that Kohli is doing well, spending time with his family, and revealing that Virat and Anushka Sharma are expecting their second child.
De Villiers disclosed the information during a Q&A session on his YouTube channel. In response to a fan’s question about checking on Kohli after his withdrawal from the initial two Tests against England and the possibility of his return for the last three matches, De Villiers made the revelation.
“All I know is he is fine. He is spending a bit of time with his family, that is the reason he is missing the first two Test matches. I am not going to confirm anything else. I cannot wait to see him back. He is fine, he is doing well,”
To offer more clarity on his revelation, De Villiers started sharing the text messages exchanged with Kohli. That’s when he confirmed that the former India captain and his wife Anushka are expecting their second child. He revealed:
“Let me just see what he said. I just want to at least give you a little bit of love,” he added. “So I wrote to him ‘Been wanting to check in with you for a while now biscuits. How are you?’. He said ‘Just need to be with my family right now. I am doing well’.
He added: “The BCCI requests the media and fans to respect Virat Kohli’s privacy during this time and refrain from speculating on the nature of his personal reasons. The focus should remain on supporting the Indian cricket team as they embark on the upcoming challenges in the Test series,”
