Virat Kohli Did Something Unusual For Mohammed Siraj

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) seamer Mohammed Siraj was on fire today against Punjab Kings (PBKS) as he returned with stunning figures of 4/21 and inflicted a run-out and RCB’s defense of their par total of 174 in Mohali.

Mohammed Siraj duly bagged the Player of the Match award for high-pace, scintillating, energetic display on the field today.

Virat Kohli, too, made his feeling public about Siraj’s brilliant piece of bowling and fielding with a social media post. Kohli, who led RCB again today as Faf du Plessis was not fit to take the field but did only bat, took to Twitter to write a special post for ‘Miyan’ Mohammed Siraj for his heroics against PBKS.

Kohli rarely writes posts for individual players after a victory, but since it was a special performance from the seamer, it got a mention in Kohli’s social media post.

“Brilliant spell by Miyan and a solid win today, we keep going,” Kohli tweeted with images from today’s victorious match.

Courtesy of half-centuries from Kohli (59) and Faf du Plessis (84), RCB posted 174. PBKS never got going in their chase as they lost wickets early and were 43/4, their chase effectively killed then. Jitesh Sharma scored 41 off 27 toward the end to keep the match alive but it was proven to be too much by RCB’s bowlers, led by Siraj’s four-fer and supported by 2 wickets from Hasaranga.

RCB Speedster said: “First ball the length was a bit short and then I sensed need to bowl full to get some swing and that was the plan (for first wicket). The lockdown was really important for me, because I used to get hit for boundaries very often before that. I worked on my plans, my fitness and my bowling and it’s all paying dividends now. I always try to improve in every department of the game because I understand it is important to contribute in whichever way possible. Always rated myself as a decent fielder, misfields can happen but I take my fielding seriously.”
