Before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season opener, RCB’s Virat Kohli shared his thoughts on their match against CSK, expressing his excitement to meet the legendary cricketer MS Dhoni.
The Indian batting maestro, Virat Kohli holds the record for the most runs in IPL history. He has amassed 7263 runs in 237 matches and 229 innings, with an average of 37.24 and a strike rate of 130.02. Kohli’s highest score is 113, and he has hit seven centuries and 50 fifties in his IPL career, the most by any player.
Virat Kohli On Catching Up With MS Dhoni Ahead Of IPL 2024 Opener
In a recent episode of RCB’s Bold Diaries, Kohli mentioned that it’s been a “while” since he last met Dhoni. He expressed that playing in front of the “passionate” CSK fans at the iconic Chepauk Stadium would be “nice.” Additionally, he emphasized that the season opener of IPL 2024 would be a “big game.” Virat Kohli said:
“Playing against Chennai is obviously always a special occasion, a big game. You know, the Southern Derby as they call it. Yeah, it’s nice to play in front of very passionate Chennai fans and yeah good to catch up with MS Dhoni, it’s been a while,”

Last season, the 35-year-old batter was the fourth-highest run-scorer, accumulating 639 runs at an average of 53.25 and a strike rate of 139.82. His highest score was 101*. Despite scoring two centuries and six fifties, he couldn’t lead his team to the playoffs.
The 17th season of the IPL kicks off on Friday, with defending champions Chennai facing Bengaluru in the Southern derby at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
