Virat Kohli Revealed The Most Important Thing He Has Gained From The IPL: Playing alongside and learning from some of the best cricketers in the world has been the most important aspect of the IPL in Virat Kohli’s journey to the top as a cricketer, the former Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper said in a recent video uploaded by the franchise.

Kohli has been the heartbeat of RCB for the past decade and is the only player in the history of the IPL to have played all 15 seasons for a single franchise.

Virat Kohli is the highest scorer in the IPL history

He is the tournament’s all-time leading run-scorer with 6411 runs in 2016 games and has smashed 5 centuries along with 42 fifties.

Kohli also holds the record for most runs in a single IPL season – 973 runs in 2016 when he batted in god-mode to take RCB to the final but the franchise fell short to SRH. RCB have come one step close to winning their maiden IPL trophy thrice – 2009, 2011 and 2016 – but lost all the finals. They reached the playoffs in the last two seasons but failed to qualify for the final.

IPL has had a big influence and impact on my life: Kohli

At RCB, Kohli has shared the dressing room with some of the legends of the game – the likes of AB de Villiers, Shane Watson, Rahul Dravid, Jaques Kallis, Zaheer Khan, Chris Gayle, Daniel Vettori, Glenn Maxwell, etc.

Speaking about the role of IPL in his career on the RCB podcast, Kohli said: “Like so many other people, IPL has had a big influence and impact on my life. I think outside of playing for India and having the opportunity to play for India, the IPL really gave me the platform to continue to show my capabilities and compete against the best players in the world and share knowledge with them.

“I think that was the most important thing. That added a really different dimension to my understanding of the game. And really helped me move ahead in a very progressive manner, where I was picking the brains of people that I probably wouldn’t have come across before.”
