Virat Kohli Has Slammed His Critics With A Cracking Statement

Since last year, Virat Kohli has broken few jinxes: his 70th international century, his maiden T20I century, his ODI and Test century wait were ended before and after the turn of the year.

At the Queen’s Park Oval on Friday, another wait ended – and quite a long one: an away Test century. His last away Test hundred had come in the December 2018 Test in Perth, which is one of Virat Kohli’s best and most memorable Test centuries.

Playing in his milestone 500th game for India, Kohli ended that wait by scoring 121 runs from 206 balls, his patient-filled innings including 11 fours, in Port of Spain. This was his 15th Test hundred out of the 29 career Test centuries.

On scoring an away hundred after 5 years, Kohli said: “These are things for others to talk. I have got 15 hundreds away from home, that’s not a bad record. I have got more hundreds away than at home. The key is to do well to the best of my ability. We haven’t played 30 matches away from home and I have got a few fifty-plus scores.”

Virat Kohli upset on missing double century

There were more runs for the taking for Kohli, but unfortunately, he got run out on 121 runs from 206 balls.

“I want to contribute as much as possible. If I get 50 the feeling is I missed out on a 100, if I get 120 the feeling is I missed out on a double hundred. These stats and milestones mean nothing in 15 years’ time, what they will remember is if I left an impact or not.”

Virat Kohli equaled Don Bradman’s tally of 29 Test hundreds. This was his 76th international century, and he’s only behind Sachin Tendulkar‘s tally of 100 hundreds.

Virat Kohli became only the 10th player in the history of the game to feature in 500 international matches.

“I am grateful to play 500 games for India. I never imagined. It’s all hard work. It’s the commitment you give to the sport you are playing which gives you the result,” he added.
