Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has found himself under the scanner of criticism as he has been unable to turn around his inconsistent form in the ongoing Indian Premier League that has plagued him for the last three seasons.
Rohit Sharma Is Struggling To Score Runs

Rohit has been going through a rough patch in his career. He is struggling to score runs in the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League and has currently scored just 184 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 126.90 and an average of 18.40. He has only notched up a single half-century in the 2023 season of the IPL. He was unable to get a double-digit score in his last four innings.
In fact, Rohit has been dismissed for ducks in his last two innings and thus, he has found himself at the receiving end of criticism and trolling.
Virender Sehwag Made A Bold Remark
The latest one to comment on Rohit’s middling form in the IPL is former India opener Virender Sehwag who feels that the MI skipper’s problem seems to be more of a mental issue than one based on technique. Speaking on ESPNCricinfo, Sehwag said:
“Rohit Sharma is not battling with the bowlers but with himself. There is a mental block. There’s no problem with his batting technique. Some confusion is going on in his mind. But the day he gets going, we will make up for all the previous matches,”
Rohit Needs To Score Runs
Rohit’s fortunes in the ongoing season have defined MI’s season as a team. He is in dire straits and needs some runs in the rest of the game for Mumbai Indians.
MI all-rounder Cameron Green who opened the batting for MI in the game against CSK ahead of Rohit had said that the team is not concerned about their captain’s form. “Absolutely not,” Green had told the reporters.
He added: “A legend that Rohit is, especially with Mumbai and everything that he has done in his career, we actually back him. He could come back into the form any time. He has batted beautifully in a few games, showing really good tempo at the top, so we are absolutely backing him.”
