Virender Sehwag Slammed Harry Brook For ‘I Shut Up Indian Fans’ Remark

SunRisers Hyderabad took a bold decision by dropping England batter Harry Brook from their line-up for their must-win game against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday (May 7) and the move worked out in favor of them.

Brook had a bizarre campaign in the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League as he was the first centurion of the season as played a stunning knock against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens. However, apart from that single game, Brook has had a miserable time in the league, having scored just 63 runs off the 8 games at an average of 7.88. Despite his poor run in the league, he was getting an extended run as an opener and a middle-order batter.

Meanwhile, after Brook was dropped from the Playing XI of SRH, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag recalled Brook’s comment after the knock against KKR. Sehwag was critical of Brook for criticizing fans for trolling him and asked why did he mess with the trolls. Speaking to Cricbuzz, Sehwag said:

“Why would you mess with trollers? Why should you even look at who are trolling you or criticising you or praising you? Your work is to come, work hard, perform and leave. If you want to put something on social media, then post it. After posting it don’t look at the comments because that will definitely affect your mind.
For that your need to be in your space – watch movies, listen to music, hangout with friends. Social media is not for watching anything, it is only a place for posting updates. Don’t be afraid of them. And if you perform, even those you had trolled or criticised you, will now praise you,”

Harry Brook Made A Controversial Remark

For the unversed, Brook, who had a poor start to the 2023 season of the IPL, smashed a century against KKR in a game, and following that game, he stated that many ‘Indian fans’ were criticizing him for his poor run in the season and he was glad to ‘shut them up’. He had said:

“I was putting pressure on myself a little bit after the first few games. You go on social media and people are calling you rubbish. You start to doubt yourself a little bit. I just went out there with an ‘I don’t care’ mentality tonight and thankfully it came off. There are a lot of Indian fans out there who’ll say ‘well done’ tonight. But they were slagging me off a few days ago. Glad I could shut them up, to be honest,”
