Virender Sehwag Slams Virat Kohli’s Captaincy: The Virat Kohli starrer Royal Challengers Bangalore are yet to lift the prestigious trophy of the Indian Premier League since the inception of the league, however, the team is looking forward to changing just that when they will lock horns with Lucknow Super Giants in the highly-anticipated IPL Eliminator round of the IPL 2022.

Though the path to the IPL trophy isn’t an easy one if RCB manages to win tonight’s encounter against KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giant, they will have to defeat Rajasthan Royals (in Qualifier 2) in order to reach the final, where they will meet the finalists Gujarat Titans.

Newly-appointed captain Faf du Plessis has managed to breathe in the fresh air in the team and the squad has also done well so far in the league. Du Plessis has been quite impressive with the captaincy as RCB has managed to win eight out of their 14 league-stage games and has managed to get a spot in the playoffs despite a negative net run rate.

In fact, while other successful teams like Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders, RCB has managed to give a tough competition to all the other teams.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer, Virender Sehwag stated that RCB has changed a lot ever since the entry of Sanjay Bangar as head coach and Faf du Plessis as skipper.

Sehwag noted the way RCB changed its thinking after the entry of Bangar and Du Plessis into the setup. He also talked about the captaincy of Virat Kohli and mentioned how the former RCB skipper used to chop and change the playing XIs. He said:

“The arrival of Sanjay Bangar as head coach and a new captain has changed RCB’s thinking. We have seen how Virat Kohli used to think as he used to drop a player after no performance in 2-3 games. But Bangar and Du Plessis have kept the team almost consistent throughout. Except Patidar for Anuj Rawat, I don’t think they made any changes due to poor performance,”

He added:

“If an Indian player had been captain and if Virat Kohli had given him some advice, he might have had to accept it under pressure. So this is what has changed with Du Plessis as captain. Sanjay Bangar has also worked with Kohli and he can have a conversation with him about that although he gives advice, the team wants to do something else,”
