The 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League has kickstarted with a bang with all the glamour and glitz and has been going on in full swing. Over the last 15 years, IPL has seen its share of controversies. However, one of the controversies that really shook the cricket world was the ‘slapgate’ incident where Harbhajan Singh had slapped S Sreesanth.
Though, it has been many years since the ‘slapgate’ incident, however, the discussions around it continue to happen. Recently, when Harbhajan, Sreesanth, as well as Virender Sehwag, got together as pundits for the IPL 2023 season the incident was discussed again.
Virender Sehwag Poked Fun At S Sreesanth

On the expert panel, Sehwag poked fun at the incident as he pulled Sree leg, which prompted Harbhajan to intervene and change the topic.
It all started after the trio got into a very interesting conversation as Sree revealed that he used to hug Singh before the start of the match, as a ritual that helped his performance. Here’s the conversation that happened:
Sree:“I want to share that before playing a Test or any other match, I always hugged Bhajji pa (Harbhajan Singh). My performace always used to be better.”
Virender: “When did this hug trend start! Probably after the incident in Mohali.”
Harbhajan then said:“Bhul jao yaar” (Forget it man).
Sree then confirmed that the ritual started in the year 2006. He then exchanged a handshake with Singh, who said: “Kuch toh log kahenge” (People always say something).
Some time ago, Sree had opened up on his relationship with Singh, especially after the infamous ‘slapgate’ incident. In an interview with Sports Yaari, Sreesanth said:
“We have always been friends. That was just a misunderstanding and the media made a big noise out of it. I will just say that Bhajji pa has supported me from the beginning in every way, including recently with commentary tips. He has supported me and helped me a lot and I am very thankful to him. There is that song, ‘Tere jaisa yaar kaha’, that is my relationship with him,”
