Sensational scenes transpired between Babar Azam and a set of fans during one of the recent games in the ongoing PSL 2024 season. The Peshawar Zalmi captain reacted furiously at fans who were chanting ‘Zimbabar’ to troll him.
Known as someone who keeps his calm, this time, though, Babar Azam reacted angrily at some fans in a recent game against Multan Sultans at the Multan Cricket Stadium. Although Babar’s team won the match, the former Pakistan captain received heavy trolling from the Multan fans.
The trolling label of ‘Zimbabar’ is prominent on social media and it resurfaces regularly whenever Babar Azam fails with the bat. Babar, whose fans hail him as the ‘King of Pakistan cricket’ is infamous for performing superbly against teams like Ireland, Zimbabwe, and Nepal, but has failed against stronger oppositions in ICC tournaments.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, Babar can be seen calling out the fans, before threatening to hit them with a bottle. One fan shouted “Tu Zimbabar hai” and got steely stares from the Peshawar captain.

Babar’s team, Peshawar Zalmi, registered their first win of the season after two losses. That they did it against the table-toppers, Multan Sultans, will give them a lot of confidence. Babar, though, once again was slow in his batting, scoring 31 runs in 26 balls. It needed quickfire knocks from Haseebullah Khan, who scored 37 runs in 18 balls, Rovman Powell, who blasted 23 in 11, and others to lift the side to 179.
In reply, Multan captain and opener, Mohammad Rizwan, got out for a duck, to Luke Wood, who took two wickets for only 13 runs, setting up the platform for Zalmi’s victory by only 5 runs.
In the post-match press conference, Babar Azam said, “Outstanding win tonight. A win like this is really needed. We wanted to score 170-180 and the batters did well to get there. Hasebullah started well and his partnership was crucial in the middle. Our bowlers put in their best efforts and executed well. Had we held onto our catches, it would have been a completely different ball game. We made changes to try a different combination and according to the surface.”
