CSK’s designated spin-basher, Shivam Dube, is having a great start to his IPL 2024 campaign. After his knock of 34 (28) in a match-winning cause against RCB on a two-paced track, the left-hander power-hitter clobbered the Gujarat Titans’ bowling attack on Tuesday in front of the Chepauk crowd.
Against a formidable GT bowling attack that includes Rashid Khan, Mohit Sharma, and Spencer Johnson, Shivam Dube blasted 5 sixes and 2 fours in his sizzling knock of 51 runs in 23 balls.
Since last year, MS Dhoni and CSK unlocked the spin-bashing beast in Shivam Dube and they have been using the left-hander to attack the spinners in the middle overs right from the get-go. This is exactly what Dube did against GT when he slammed two sixes on the first two balls he faced, from left-arm spinner Sai Kishore.
Promoted over Daryl Mitchell, Dube came in to bat in the 11th over of CSK’s innings. Sai Kishore had dismissed Ajinkya Rahane. Dube took down Kishore for two sixes on his first two balls.
The first one was to a delivery full and outside the off-stump. Dube used his long hands to get under it and with a big swing whacked it over the bowler’s head for a straight six.
Kishore then went round the wicket to cut down the angle, but Dube lined him up and smashed a full delivery on the stumps on the legside for another maximum, this time over deep mid-wicket.
